Panchaloha idols unearthed
Banaganapalle: Panchaloha idols of god Siva and goddess Parvathi were unearthed from an ant hill near Patimeedi Sivalayam in Banaganapalle on Monday evening. According to the available information, on the occasion of Sivaratri festival, some women of Banaganapalle went to clean the temple for observing jagarnam.
After cleaning the temple, the women poured 108 pots of water on the ant hill as a means of abhisekham. While pouring the water the soil eroded and out of the ant hill emerged the panchaloha idols of god Shiva and goddess Parvathi. With the unbelievable incident, the women were taken aback and informed others. In no time, the news spread like wild fire in the town.
People in huge number thronged to have the glimpse of the deities. Some of the villagers of Banaganapalle said, a village Kanamadakalapdu used to exist 400 years ago where the panchaloha idols were unearthed.
In due course of time, the village was disappeared, and the Siva temple was also forgotten by the people. Renovation works at Siva temple were also taken up to observe jagaranam on the occasion of Sivaratri, stated a villager.
