Srisaila Jagadguru participates in Mahasivaratri Brahmotsavam
Srisailam Project: On the seventh day of Mahasivaratri Brahmotsavam in the shrine here on Monday, Srisaila Jagadguru Peetadhipati Sri Chenna Siddarama Sivacharya Mahaswamy had darshan of the deities. He was received with traditional ‘purnakumbham’ honours at the temple gopuram by the archakas and Vedic pandits. A ‘veda ghosti’ was conducted in his honour.
In the morning, special poojas were offered to the deities in Yagashala, followed by ‘Japam’, ‘Mandaparadhana’, ‘Panchavararchana’, ‘Rudra Homam’, and ‘Chandi Homam’. In the evening, ‘Pradoshkala Pooja’, Homam and ‘Japamashtanalu’ were conducted.
According to EO Bharat Gupta, ‘Gajavahana Seva’ was offered to the presiding deities. They were taken out in a procession in Akkamma Devi Alankaram mandapam on ‘Ravana Vahanam’, with the performance of Vigneswara pooja. Vedic pundits performed Swasthi Vachanam followed by Gramotsavam in the main streets of the town.
