Former MLA MV Krishna Rao passes away

Srikakulam: Former Ichchapuram MLA and senior Telugu Desam Party  leader MV Krishna Rao,(84) died of jaundice in Hyderabad on Wednesday. He migrated to Ichchapuram from Peddapalaparru of Krishna district and settled here as his father was a contractor here. He was elected as an MLA from Ichchapuram constituency for four times in 1983, 1985, 1989 and 1999 on the TDP ticket.

Krishna Rao had studied M Sc (Chemistry) and also did PhD. He also worked as a professor in Assam University for some time. He had submitted his thesis for PhD on vitamin E and its importance in human body.

2004, he had been staying away from active politics for some time and settled in Hyderabad. During the elections,  he used to visit Ichchapuram and had stayed for some time here in a rented house till 2014 elections. In 2014, as he was denied TDP ticket, hence, he had shifted his residence in Hyderabad permanently and did not visit Ichchapuram for the past four years. 

He served as a panel Speaker in the Assembly of the undivided state of Andhra Pradesh. He also worked as the chairman of the Ethics Committee and was appointed as chairman of AP Mineral Development Corporation (APMDC) during NTR’s regime. State TDP president and Minister for Energy K Kala Venkata Rao, Minister for Transport K Atchannaidu and other leaders expressed their grief on death of the party senior leader.
