Left parties to stage protest at Parliament on March 6
Vijayawada: The Left parties, including CPM and CPI, decided to stage protest at Parliament in New Delhi on March 6 demanding implementation of AP Reorganisation Act. The leaders of the Left parties met here on Wednesday to finalise agitation programme.
They decided to conduct a round-table with AP Pratyeka Hoda Sadhana Samithi and Joint Action Committee in Vijayawada on February 18. Similarly, a public meeting will be organised in Vizag on February 24 for railway zone. The protests will be staged in a phased manner.
CPI state secretary K Ramakrishna said the state and the Central governments were cheating the people. Announcing the decisions taken by the Left parties in the meeting, he asked all the political parties, student unions, women’s associations, people’s organisations and voluntary organisations to take part in the proposed round-table.
He said that they would stage protests until the Centre takes initiative towards implementation of assurances enshrined in the AP Reorganisation Act. Some political parties are scared of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he said and added that the Left parties were not afraid of anyone to launch agitation for protecting the interests of the state.
Ramakrishna took a strong exception to the false statements made by BJP on allocation of funds for the state. The Centre did not give anything additional to the state and several important promises in AP Reorganisation Act were not addressed, he pointed out.
He said the Left parties would make a common platform after holding discussions with Jana Sena Party chief Pawan Kalyan and CPM state party P Madhu. He also said they would conduct Chalo Guntur on February on 23 for staging protest against the attack on Dalits in Gottipadu village in the same district.
CPM state secretary P Madhu, AP Pratyeka Hoda, Vibhajana Hameela Sadhana Samiti state organising secretary Muppalla Bhargavasri, former MLC Jalli Wilson, CPM state leader Y Venkateswara Rao, D Harinath (CPI-ML Liberation), P V Sundara Ramaraju (Forward Block), M Venkata Reddy (MCPI), Polari (CPI-ML), BS Amarnath, Sudheer (SUCI) and several leaders were present.
