Damodaram Sanjeevaiah remembered

Kurnool: Damodaram Sanjeevaiah’s 98th birth anniversary was celebrated on a grand note at the office of the District Congress Committee (DCC) here on Wednesday. Former Union Minister, Kotla Jayasurya Prakash Reddy participated as a chief guest on the occasion.

After garlanding the statue of Sanjeevaiah, Surya Prakash spoke on the occasion and said that Damodaram Sanjeevaiah is the first Dalit, who has risen to the utmost position as Chief Minister. He is the first Chief Minister of united Andhra Pradesh and has rendered effortless services to the state as well as to the community. Several welfare schemes have been launched by him to uplift the downtrodden communities.  

He was fondly called as “Dalit Jana Bhandavudu”. During his tenure as Chief Minister, Sanjeevaiah gave importance to the agriculture sector and the credit of allocating 27 per cent reservation to Backward Castes (BCs) in the combines state goes to him.

The people of Kurnool are very fortunate as Damodaram Sanjeevaiah and Kotla Vijaybhaskar Reddy have ruled the state as Chief Ministers and had brought laurels to the district, said Kotla.

Later, the Congress party leaders also garlanded the photo of Sanjeevaiah in the DCC office and paid tributes. City president Sardar Bucchi Babu; former Zilla Parishad Chairman Akepogu Venkataswamy; former MLA Madana Gopal; Vice-President S Venugopal Reddy; C Ashok Rathnam, MP Thippanna, S Khaleel Basha, S Saramma, P Sujatha, Surya Kanthamma and others participated in the programme.
