YS Jagan asks TDP MPs to quit, join SCS protest

Renamaala: Throwing the gauntlet, YSR Congress President YS Jagan Mohan Reddy asked Chandrababu Naidu to make TDP MPs to quit en masse for putting up a joint fight with all 25 MPs from the state fighting for Special Category Status (SCS) which will mount enormous pressure on the Centre.

Speaking to women groups as part of the Praja Sankalpa Yatra here on Thursday, the Leader of Opposition has said that instead of trying to find fault with our line of action TDP ranks should join us in the resignations which would put the Centre into defence.

The SCS was promised in the Parliament and was strongly advocated by TDP and BJP with Venkaiah Naidu stating that it takes three years to set up industry and the five years of SCS would not be sufficient and they went on to ask for 15 years, but now they are going back.

That is the reason why we have given the slogan SCS is our right and do not get cheated with Special Packages. Our line of action was announced with clarity and we will settle for nothing short of SCS, he said.

The agitation would intensify further with picketing of all Collector offices on March 1 in the 13 districts and on March 3 the Party leaders will come to the place where my Praja Sankalpa Yatra is going on and I will flag off the rally to take the fight to national capital.

Our party leaders would protest at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi on March 5, when the Budget session resumes and will fight for the SCS inside and outside the Parliament.

The fight for SCS will go on concurrently with the Budget Session and if nothing is forthcoming on April 6, the last day of the session, our MPs will quit in protest and further intensify the struggle for SCS.

We will resolutely canvas that Special package is no match for SCS and will continue the fight till we achieve the goal, he said.

Earlier, addressing the women groups, he said that Chandrababu Naidu has cheated the women by going back on the poll promise and his Party has announced Navaratnas which would be beneficial to all sections, he said.
