CPM demands all-party meet on land pooling
Vijayawada: The CPM opposing the land pooling plans of the state government for the construction of new inner ring road. CPM Capital Region Committee convener Ch Babu Rao took strong objection to the plans of the government for acquiring 8,000 acres under Land Pooling Scheme (LPS) for the inner ring road construction.
Speaking to media persons here on Thursday, he said the government has already acquired 33,000 acres from farmers but no development has taken place in the villages of Amaravati capital. He said the government at least did not finalise designs for administrative block in Amaravati capital. He wondered as to how the government could contemplate acquisition of land from farmers again.
The CPM leader also said the State and Central governments failed to release funds for the construction of Amaravati city. He questioned the rationality of the move of the state government getting ready again to acquire land from farmers in the two districts Krishna and Guntur in the name of inner ring road. He lambasted the Centre for releasing Rs 1,500 crore only for the capital construction so far against the State government’s expenditure proposal of Rs 58,000 crore.
Babu Rao said the ongoing flyover construction works at Durga temple and Benz Circle are going at a snail’s pace. There was no development in capital villages except allocation of lands to various private organisations, he said. He demanded Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu call for an all-party meet to discuss the allocated funds from the Centre and injustice done to the state.
