Agitation in support of High Court in Rayalaseema

Anantapur: CPI party workers organised a human chain at Saptagiri Circle in the city on Friday, demanding establishment of AP High Court in Rayalaseema region. The party workers, led by district CPI secretary Jagadeesh, brought the traffic to a halt by organising a human chain by involving local people and more than 100 party workers.

Addressing the gathering, Jagadeesh said that all development was being concentrated only in Amaravati and all the backward districts were left high and dry. He has said that Rayalaseema is the most neglected region prior to state bifurcation as well in the post bifurcation.

Unless the AP High Court is located in any of the Rayalaseema districts, the region would languish in poverty and without any development, he stated. Meanwhile, hundreds of advocates took out a rally and also participated in relay hunger strike near the district court premises. Police foiled the agitation of the advocates and CPI workers and took them into custody.

YSRCP MLA Y Visveshwara Reddy also demanded establishment of the AP High Court in the region. He says that it is regrettable that no noteworthy development is taking place in the region and that all development is revolving around Krishna and Guntur districts.

He says that the TDP is playing a double game with regard to demand of Special Category Status and is critical of YSRCP chief Jaganmohan Reddy for asking party MPs to resign in support of the demand.
