Take failures & successes equally, tennis players told

Kurnool: Rajya Sabha Member TG Venkatesh said that every athlete should learn to rejoice in their failures and successes in equal measure and only then, they would be able to scale great heights.

Addressing the gathering at the valedictory function of All India Lawn Tennis Championship here on Friday, TG Venkatesh said that it was an uphill task to organise the sports.

He appreciated the organisers for successfully conducting the national-level sports, thereby fetching glory to Kurnool. Inspector General of Police (Rayalaseema) Shaik Mohammed Iqbal also participated as a chief guest on the occasion. Addressing the gathering, he urged the athletes to participate in international competitions and spread their names far and wide, thus bringing glory to the motherland.

Athletes could cross any barrier successfully if they were provided with all facilities. The voluntary organisations should come forward to help the sportspersons, he added. KE Pratap has stated that Kurnool Club would always be there to organise sports and encourage the athletes.

Later, they presented the athletes with trophies and commendation certificates. Tourney organisers Gorla Mallikarjuna, M Kamal Basha, tennis players and their parents, and sports lovers were present at the closing ceremony.
