Fire breaks out on boat

Visakhapatnam: A fire broke out on a mechanised boat, which was anchored at fishing harbour  here on Saturday. On receiving information, the fire department personnel rushed to the spot and doused the fire. Rs 30 lakh worth assets were gutted in the fire accident. 

According to sources, after fishing, a mechanised boat MM 1133   returned to the fishing harbour and was anchored on Thursday. Meanwhile, the owner reportedly asked his men to do minor repairs in the boat on Saturday with a gas cutter and welding machine. During repair works, fire broke out due to gas leakage and engulfed the boat.  

On receiving information, the fire department officials rushed to the spot and extinguished the fire. Kiran, a welder, sustained minor burns, while repairing the boat. He was shifted to KGH where he is undergoing treatment.
