Permanent building for central library promised

Nellore: Agriculture Minister Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy has assured of constructing a permanent building for the central library in the city. The Minister handed over a cheque of Rs 30.05 lakh to District Central Library officials for the construction of the proposed buildings for the libraries at Kulluru and Kota mandals. 

He also provided them another cheque of Rs 10.3 lakh for the repairs to be taken up for the libraries in Kota, Brahmanakraka, Annareddypalem and Ranganayakula Pet in Nellore.

Further, the Minister participated in a valedictory function of INSPIRE Manak Science Programme at St Josephs’ High School in Santhapet here on Saturday evening. Addressing the students, Somireddy said that the students have to keep in mind that technology should reach the common man. 

‘Students have to understand everything related to the science and have to invent many things which would be useful for different sectors of the society. State government has been using advanced technology in the agriculture sector,” the Minister said. Somireddy has mentioned that they had distributed soil health cards to around 40 lakh farmers across the state for supplying nutrients to the lands. 

He further stated that the state government has been collaborating with Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation for technological support to conduct soil tests. State government had allocated Rs 20,384 crore for education, he added. Later, the Minister handed over prizes to the students, who have excelled in the INSPIRE programme. DEO K Samuel, Chairman of the District Central Library K Venkata Swamy Naidu and others were present.
