Jagan announces host of sops for farmers

Kondapi (Prakasam): On the 93rd day of his Praja Sankalpa Yatra, YSR Congress Party president YS Jaganmohan Reddy offered several sops to farmers.

During a meeting with farmers at Timmapalem, Jaganmohan Reddy assured completion of irrigation projects on war-footing, quality electricity during day time, cattle care and allowances to dairy farmers and requested them to help the YSRCP win the next elections. On Tuesday, Jaganmohan Reddy walked another 13.5 km and completed total 1262.4 kilometres of his Yatra.

The locals from the villages of Chowtapalem, Lingamgunta, Malepadu and Timmapalem extended a warm welcome to the Opposition leader in the State Assembly. A number of farmers, youth and women extended their support to him.

The women from Malepadu sought removal of a wine shop in the village. Jagan assured the women that after the YSRCP forms government in the State, he will remove not only the wine shop at Malepadu, but all shops in the State in three phases.

During his meeting with the farmers, Jaganmohan Reddy offered them attractive schemes and also received suggestions. Blaming Chandrababu Naidu for the miserable and sorry plight of farmers, Jaganmohan Reddy promised to implement a variety of schemes for their benefit.

He announced that his government will launch a capital infusion scheme for farmers. Jagan promised to dig borewells at the expenditure of the state and offered 9 hours of quality electricity in the day time. 

The YSRCP government will offer a minimum support price which satisfies the farmers. To store the crop for better price, Jagan said his government would set up cold storages and food processing units at the Assembly and mandal headquarters. 

Jaganmohan Reddy offered insurance facility to crops against the unforeseen difficulties. He announced introduction of YSR Bima providing a benefit of Rs 5 lakh to farmers and providing them protection from private money lenders if a farmer dies in accident.

He said that the YSRCP government will set up natural calamities fund with Rs 4000 crore to help the farmers apart from price stabilisation fund with Rs 3000 crore. He announced 102 service for the cattle by Animal Husbandry department to treat the animals at their places.

He also offered support to the tobacco farmers who would wish to shift alternate crops. He also promised to provide safe drinking water to the villages affected with fluoride.
