Officials told to purchase 60 acres for housing poor

Nellore: Municipal Administration Minister P Narayana directed the officials concerned to purchase 60 acres of land at Kondlamudi village for constructing houses meant for the poor. He visited the village located in Nellore rural mandal on Monday along with officials and verified the proposed site for construction.

Speaking to the media, the Minister said that the government had set its target of constructing 5 lakh houses for the poor using latest shear wall technology in all 110 municipalities across the state. Narayana has stated that they have been constructing the houses using the state-of-the-art technology after studying various types of construction models in various countries.

He has explained that they would provide basic amenities to the people for more convenience of the residents and informed that the government would purchase lands if government lands are not available in the proposed area. State government had planned to purchase land with Rs 6 crore in Kavali and with Rs 50 crore in Eluru for construction of the houses, the Minister mentioned.

Narayana explained that they would construct these houses close to the towns and cities. He said that they had been constructing houses at Janardhanreddy colony, KPHB colony, YSR Nagar, Irukalala Parameswari temple and other areas in Nellore city. NUDA Chairman K Srinivasulu Reddy, GGH Development Committee Chairman Ch Narasimha Rao, RDO D Haritha, Nellore Municipal Commissioner Alim Basha, Tahsildar Narasimhulu and others were present.
