No compromise on Special Category Status: Narayana
Chittoor: Categorically demanding Special Category Status only for the state, CPI asked Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu to lead an all-party delegation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for exerting pressure on the issue.
Addressing CPI 22nd district conference here on Wednesday, party national secretary K Narayana said the SCS was state’s right as per AP Reorganisation Act and Special Economic Package suggested by Center was a sheer begging. He said the CPI would not join any delegation of the CM if he focuses only on special package.
Narayana said CPI was conducting party elections in a democratic way whereas TDP, BJP adopt ‘nomination’ of leader to top posts. He alleged that Rs5lakh crore corruption had taken place in the country during 2015-17 under BJP government. “Four Judges of Supreme Court have expressed their resentment in openly, which indicates the peril faced by democracy under Modi rule,” he said.
Rejecting the claims of the Chief Minister regarding construction of Amaravati, the CPI leader said Naidu was building castles in the air with the help of Bahubali director Rajamouli. He said the Chief Minister visited New Delhi for 29 times in special aircraft wasting public money only to enhance his personal image.
Accusing the Centre of deliberately neglecting the development of Andhra Pradesh and even denied railway zone, Narayana said the party would have no future in the state. He said BJP was only focusing on northern states like Bihar at the expense of AP.
District CPI secretary Rama Naidu said that CPI was relentlessly fighting for the interests of the farmers, the poor and the downtrodden. He opposed the government’s move to privatise Chittoor Government Hospital . Chittoor town secretary Nagarajan and others spoke. The meeting would continue for three more days.
