One run over by truck 

Vijayawada: One worker died and another injured when a speeding truck hit them while they were doing road works on the national highway near Hanuman Junction on Wednesday.

According to police, a lorry from Vijayawada was proceeding towards Eluru hit the workers who were painting the national highway. The truck driver seems could not see the highway properly due to thick smog at 5.30 am.

The deceased was identified as Rashid Khan, a migrant worker from Madhya Pradesh. The 22-year-old worker died on the spot. Another worker Vijay Kishan Salami sustained injuries in the mishap. In all five, workers were marking the national highway with paint.

The body was shifted to the Nuzvid government hospital for post-mortem. Sub-inspector of police of Hanuman Junction registered a case and took up the investigation. The truck driver is at large.
