City road repairs after drain works: Narayana

Nellore: Municipal Administration Minister P Narayana said that the civic body would take up repairs to the damaged roads in the city after completion of ongoing underground drainage and water works.

The Minister inaugurated various development works worth Rs 6.6 crore on Saturday at New Colony located in KPHB Colony in the 25th division. Speaking to the media, Narayana has stated that they would construct drains and roads in all colonies in the city. The main aim of the state government is to provide basic amenities in all SC, ST colonies, he added.

“Developmental works have been taken up with Rs 68 crore under SC sub plan and also with a special grant of Rs 43 crore across the district,” the Minister said, directing the authorities to complete the works before March 15. 

He further said the drain and water works were handed over to L & T and NCC companies and exuded confidence of both companies would complete the works with quality. He instructed the authorities of the Revenue department to conduct a survey for issuing land pattas to the people. Measures would be taken to issue pattas to the eligible, he added. 

The Minister enquired about progress of the development works in the KPHB Colony and asked the officials to speed up the works. He also directed the authorities to construct a compound wall to protect park in the New Colony. 

Later, he inspected the construction of houses at Janardhan Reddy Colony. City Mayor Sk Abdul Aziz, former legislators A Prabhakar Reddy, M Sridhar Krishna Reddy, Commissioner Alim Basha, GGH Development Committee Chairman Ch Narasimha Rao, Corporator Padmaja and others were present. 

Further, Narayana laid foundation stone for the drains with SC sub plan funds in Venkateswarapuram. He also laid foundation stone for roads and drains with Rs 7.73 crore in Kodurupadu. 

The Minister announced that they had sanctioned Rs 2.50 crore for the Outer Ring Road proposed at Kodurupadu in Nellore rural mandal. He said that they had taken up developmental works in SC colonies with Rs 111 crore of sub plan funds. State government has been giving priority for welfare of the Dalits. Corporator Parameswar Reddy and others were present.
