One dies in fishing harbour fire
Visakhapatnam: A carpenter died and four others sustained injuries when a fire broke out at Visakhapatnam Fishing Harbour here on Saturday. Reasons for fire mishap are yet to be ascertained as fishing boat was under renovation. Two carpenters were working on the vessel when the mishap took place. It is learnt that the diesel tank was burst and fire spread immediately in the boat at jetty number four.
One of the two carpenters Potti Chinni, who was working inside the vessel, was caught in flames. However, another carpenter, who escaped from the fire, alerted others to rescue Chinni. With almost 80 per cent burn injuries, Chinni was shifted to King George Hospital where doctors declared him brought dead. The boat number was identified as MM2371 owned by one Tholada Konda.
The owner claimed that Rs 30 lakh property was gutted in the fire. The fire personnel rushed to the spot and put off the fire ensuring the flames not spread to other vessels. The fire personnel safely shifted a gas cylinder from the boat. Further investigation
