Veerraju flays CM for changing stand on Special Category Status
Vijayawada: MLC Somu Veerraju asked Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu as to who would go to jail for demanding Special Category Status (SCS). Addressing Meet-the-Press here on Friday, the BJP leader recalled the comments of the Chief Minister that people who ask for Special Category Status (SCS) would go to jail.
He also reminded that Chandrababu Naidu, at a meeting in the presence of TDP leaders, also stated that there was no benefit to the state due to SCS. ``How the Chief Minister had come to conclusion in that meeting that the difference between the SCS and special package was only Rs 3,000 crore," Veerraju asked and requested the media to ask the CM on these issues.
He said that the CM challenged the Opposition parties in the past on the SCS. Quoting the comments of Chandrababu Naidu that if anybody demands for the SCS the law would take its own course, the MLC wondered whether the same law does not act against the CM now.
By showing the paper clippings and videos of the comments of Chandrababu Naidu to the media, the BJP leader recalled that the CM urged the people not to extend support to bandh call given by Opposition parties for the SCS in the past.
The NDA government led by the BJP had given utmost priority to Andhra Pradesh compared to other states, he stated and recalled that the Chief Minister also said the same in this regard. He flayed TDP and Congress MPs for not asking anything for the state development at the time of bifurcation.
He said that the then MP M Venkaiah Naidu fought for state interests while Telangana CM also requested the Centre for securing various projects.
