Chief Minister launches E-Verito car
Visakhapatnam: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister flagged off an electric car E-Verito at the summit on Saturday while District Collector Pravin Kumar has driven the car. The E-cars were designed by Tata Mahindra Motors.
The launch of these vehicles at the APIIC grounds will help the denizens to lead the way towards cleaner and greener technologies. The Andhra Pradesh government signed an MoU with the automobile manufacturing giant Toyota to launch e-Vehicles in the state’s capital of Amaravati.
Tata Mahindra had introduced their Tigor and Verito e-car models during the summit. In the joint venture between Delhi-based Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL) and New and Renewable Energy Development Corporation of AP Limited (NREDCAP), the state will be getting a total of 10,000 cars in a phased manner from EESL.
In the preliminary stage, the e cars will be driven by the district officials and the Central government plans to increase the number of electric vehicles in India by the year 2030.
Trying to achieve the same, the state government also wants to bring electric cars onto the streets of Visakhapatnam as well in Tirupati and Amaravati in future. GVMC had already announced the launch of e-cars on to the city roads in a step towards curbing the vehicular pollution. On Saturday, the state government launched two cars in the city.
