AP Govt to offer incentives for Economic Cities Project
Amaravati: State government has decided to support the Economic Cities Project by giving certain incentives, exemptions and relaxations.
The economic cities development is a vision formulated by the government to create a self-sustaining ecosystem with a walk –to –work environment that generates economic growth and creates jobs, provides housing to all sections of the society and caters to their social, recreational and other needs.
The government announced in the past that certain fiscal and quantitative incentives would be provided to the private developers to develop economic cities on their own land.
The Urban Infrastructure Promotion Committee (UIPC), under the chairmanship of the Chief Secretary, evaluated certain projects of economic cities and made some recommendations in respect of six projects in Vijayawada, Guntur, Rajahmundry, Kurnool and Visakhapatnam.
The UIPC and the Urban Infrastructure Promotion Board (UIPB), under the chairmanship of Chief Minister, held a meeting atSecretariat in the first week of February and approved some recommendations on giving incentives, exemptions and relaxations.
According to Principal Secretary to Industry and Invest department Ajay Jain, the government decided to provide external trunk infrastructure to the extent of Rs.51.2 crores for the six projects. Housing component of the economic cities will be developed under Credit Linked Subsidy Scheme (CLSS) of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) with no subsidy of AP government.
Beneficiary list will be provided by the government for the economically weaker sections (EWS) housing component of the Economic Cities. Exemptions of the fees and charges like building license fee, publication charges, tree guard charges, infrastructure deposit, land use conversion charges, non- agricultural lands assessment (NALA) charges for land use modification, city level impact fee will be provided for the EWS housing in these economiccities.
Exemptions of stamp duty and registration charges to beneficiaries will be given only for economically weaker sections housing in these economic cities. Twenty one days single window clearance will also be available.
