Raghuveera asks TDP, YSRCP to boycott Rajya Sabha polls
Vijayawada: APCC president N Raghuveera Reddy advised the Telugu Desam and YSR Congress parties to boycott the forthcoming Rajya Sabha elections as part of protest against the Centre for not implementing the APReorganisation Act. If the parties stand away from fielding their candidates in the election, the pressure would mount on the Centre, he said.
Raghuveera said that if the Centre was violating the implementation of the Act, the political parties have toteach it a fitting lesson by boycotting the election. He flayed the Centre for not implementing various important assurances mentioned in the AP Reorganisation Act.
He said that the political parties should mount pressure on the Centre using all kinds of tactics in the interests of the State. The two main parties in the State should not sacrifice the interests of people for their selfish interests, he asserted.
The Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) took out a torch rally in Vijayawada city on Monday to mark the protest against the Centre for not implementing the AP Reorganisation Act. PCC Chief N Raghuveera Reddy launched the rally from Andhra RatnaBhavan.
The rallypassed through the Police Control room, Mahatma Gandhi Road and finally culminated at the Lenin Centre. Raghuveera Reddy and several leaders participated in the rally. The party activists raised slogans against the State and Central governments. On this occasion, the PCC president said that the Centre had the responsibility to implement the Act as it is mandatory.
He wondered as to how the Centre would step aside from its responsibilities by neglecting the interests of the State. AP Mahila Congress president SunkaraPadmasri, PCC official spokesperson Kolanukonda Sivaji, City Congress president AkulaSrinivasa Kumar, senior leader Naraharisetti Srihari and other leaders were present.
