GITAM signs MoU with Russian varsity on ship building
Visakhapatnam: GITAM University on Monday signed a MoU with St Petersburg State Maritime Technical University (SPbGMTU), Russia to offer double degree programme in ship building and ship power and automation systems for GITAM students of mechanical engineering. The MoU was initiated by APEDB as part of CIIs Partnership Summit.
As part of MoU, the 119-year-old Russian University will offer several short-term courses to GITAM engineering students in the areas of ‘fluid dynamics of marine vessels,’ ‘Arctic technologies in shipbuilding,’ ‘Modern ray and welding technologies.’
Both the institutes have also agreed to exchange students and faculty to share knowledge, culture and language during the MoU period. St Petersburg State Maritime Technical University (SPbGMTU) International Science and Education Vice-Rector Prof Kirill V Rozhdestvensky and GITAM Registrar Prof M Potharaju exchanged the MoU documents in the presence of Vice-Chancellor Prof M S Prasada Rao and GITAM International Students Affairs Wing Director KP Kishan.
Speaking on the occasion, Kirill V Rozhdestvensky informed that his university is known for the design, construction and technical operation of sea-going vessels, combat surface ships and submarines. Later, Kirill visited GITAM engineering and science departments and appreciated the infrastructure facilities.
