Ganja destroyed

Visakhapatnam: Visakhapatnam rural police destroyed 11,493 kg of ganja, which was seized at various places, at Marikavalasa dumping yard on Tuesday in the presence of Drug Disposal Committee members.

Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Vizag Range Ch Srikant and Superintendent of Police, Visakhapatnam Rural District Rahul Dev Sharma supervised. 

Speaking to the media, DIG Srikanth said that the police registered 85 cases under Anakapalli sub-division limits, including Anakapalle  town (11), Chodavaram (12), Madugula (51) and Buttchayyapeta (11).

With the court directive, the ganja was destroyed, he added. Police registered PD Act cases against the 15 accused, who were involved in the ganja smuggling.
