Use letters, social media to secure Special Category Status: Karem
Tirupati: The Chairman of SC, ST Commission Karem Sivaji opined that there is a need to convey to the Central government through letters and social mediathat AP should get Special Category Status (SCS). All the agitations should be in a peaceful manner and destructive fight will never benefit the State.
Speaking at an interactive meeting in Sri PadmavathiMahilaVisvaVidyalayam (SPMVV) on Tuesday, Sivaji said, “We should express our solidarity by voicing our concern for SCS, which is the right of Andhra people, to MPs who were protesting at Parliament for the cause”.
Every year five lakhs youth were coming out of the campuses with graduation certificates and there is a need to provide employment to all the educated youth. There will be tax holiday also under SCS, he said.
The Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu was striving in bringing more and more industries to the State. On their part, the Central government has denied SCS and offered Special Package which was not yet materialised. CM has visited Delhi for 29 times so far and met Prime Minister and Finance Minister, but there was no result, Sivaji observed.
SPMVV Vice-Chancellor Prof V Durga Bhavani also stressed that SCS is the right of AP people. She recalled that Telangana government has to pay about Rs.1 crore arrears to SPMVV. The V-C praised the Chief Minister who became MLA at the age of 26 and Minister at the age of 28 years.
He made history by serving for the longest period as CM and as opposition leader. JD Social Welfare Vijaya Kumar, SPMVV Rector Prof V Uma, Deans Prof DB Krishna Kumari,Prof K Sandhya Rani and others participated.
Earlier, the Chairman of SC, ST Commission Karem Sivaji received representations from people at Padmavathi Guest House. The representations include filling up of backlog vacancies in SV University, implementation of roster system in promotions by TTD and others.
