Inter exams under CCTV surveillance

Srikakulam: In the wake of criticism and previous years experiences regarding irregularities in intermediate public examinations, officials decided to install CCTV cameras in examination halls from this year. Intermediate public examinations in the district are scheduled to be held from February 28 to March 19. Total 99 centres were identified across the district.

This time, distribution of students for each room is confined to 24 to 30 basing on the size and facility of the room. For first year examinations, both general and vocational courses, 31,882 candidates would be appearing, for second year 32, 278 candidates would appear.  

Total candidates for both years is 64,160 and total required rooms for all candidates are 2,138.  Examination material like question papers, OMR sheets distributed to all centres on Tuesday .

Total required CCTV cameras are 2,138 if arranged at least one camera at one room. But due to non-availability of cameras some principals are trying to avoid installation of CCTV cameras in their colleges. 

“We directed regional intermediate officer (RIO) and principals of all junior colleges to install CCTV cameras which are identified as problematic and no scope for lobbying in prevention of irregularities,” additional joint collector and in-charge for examinations  P Rajanikantha Rao told The Hans India.
