Kodela invites YSRCP MLAs to take part in Budget Session
Amaravati: Assembly Speaker Kodela Sivaprasada Rao hoped that the Opposition YSR Congress Party will participate in the ensuing Assembly Budget Session to be commenced from March 5.
Speaking to media after holding a pre-review meeting with senior police officials and other officials on Wednesday regarding security arrangements, Sivaprasada Rao said that he invited the YSRCP MLAs to the Budget session along with the TDP and the BJP MLAs.
Stating that attending to the Assembly Sessions is a right given by the Constitution of India to all the elected members, the Speaker added that Assembly was the only place where they can present their views on the budget. It may be mentioned here that the YSRCP had boycotted the Assembly Sessions demanding action against the defected MLAs.
The Speaker informed that the Governor E S L Narasimhan will address both the Houses on March 5 and the state budget would be presented by finance minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu on March 8.
During the meeting, he suggested the police officials to place the right persons at key security areas. He directed them not to allow others without authenticated passes.
At the same time, he cautioned that the security officials should be aware of MLAs and MLCs and should not create any inconvenience to them while they will be coming to the House.
Legislative Council Chairman N M D Farooq observed that the security officials should not allow other than authorised persons into the lobbies. The Speaker also directed the officials to plan security for the Rajya Sabha elections which will be organised on March 23.
The police officials informed the Speaker that they would allow Ministers, MLAs, MLCs and other senior officials on Karakatta during the Assembly Session.
Karakatta is a road on the banks of river Krishna, on which Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu’s residence is there at Undavalli. It was identified as sensitive zone by the police department and hence imposed restrictions. Police informed that they would allow public through Undavalli and other routes.
