He also gave him a crystal chain with affection. He delivered his discourses a YMHA Hall several times, he added.    Kanchi seer was very fond of Eluru city and he was associated with it for over three decades.

The pontiff visited the city for the first time in the late 1980s and gave his religious discourse at Shankar Math in RR Peta in the city. He offered prayers at Shankara Math and delivered his lectures to the devotees.

The decades-old Sanskrit Pathasala in Powerpeta was adopted by Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham with a view to popularise Sanskrit language among the students. Kanchi seer himself visited the school and announced its takeover.

The school is now running under the supervision of Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham. School management representatives Dronamraju Venkata Subba Rao, DV Ramana Rao and others made arrangements for the Swami's tour in the city. He had paid a visit to the city during 2000-2013 several times and visited YMHA Hall, where he delivered lectures.

He further stated that he had staged Kuchipudi dance at Kanchi Peetham and continued it every year. During the programme, the Kanchi seer Jayendra Saraswathi had blessed him, he recollected.
