Lokesh seeks increase in National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme working days
Amaravati: Panchayat Raj Minister Nara Lokesh will write a letter to the Central government requesting to enhance the working days of Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) from 100 to 150 in the Agency areas in the state.
In the letter, Lokesh said that majority of Tribal families have been depending on the MGNREGS works only and hence they could not sustain due to restriction on the working days under the scheme.
In a review meeting held at Secretariat on Thursday, Lokesh said they have targeted to complete 24 crore working days in the concluding year but reached 19.8 crore working days only.
The minister also directed the officials to utilise the remaining 24 working days in the concluding financial year to reach the rest of the targeted working days of 4 crore 92 lakhs. Installation of 10 lakh LED lights in the state by November 2018 is the target of department, he informed with the officials.
