Many couples to enter into wedlock in March
Vizianagaram: Again, after a gap of three months, the town will be witnessing a huge rush as thousands of marriages will be performed in the month of March, especially on March 4, 6 and 11.
Actually, the auspicious days for holding weddings were concluded by November 23 and 26 in 2017 and people were forced to postpone their weddings and as there were no auspicious days available.
They could not perform weddings during the month of Pushya (Pushyamasam) which had fallen in the months of January and February. Now, priests are advising people to perform weddings on March 4, 6 and 11, which are considered auspicious.
Now, there is a heavy rush to book function halls, band, caterers, flower and electrical decorators et al. Function halls also are being upgraded to suit the needs of the customers and making necessary renovations.
Speaking to The Hans India here on Tuesday, K Gangadhar, owner of Subham Function Hall in Vizianagaram, said, “Our function hall was already booked way back for those weddings to be held in March and now we have no dates available to rent out our halls though the people are also ready to pay additional money to book them.
We are getting calls from the people, but we are helpless.” Even the bands are not available to participate in marriage functions during March. The jewellery shops are also witnessing a heavy rush as the subha muhurthams (auspicious occasions) are more in March and they are busy in making new varieties of ornaments.
Pidaparthi Sambasiva Sastry, a prominent priest of Vizianagaram, said, “After a gap of three months, the month of March has several auspicious days and the parents of brides and grooms are approaching us to fix muhurthams,” he said.
