Rotary Pratibha Puraskaram presented to Dr Akbar

Anantapur: Dr B Akbar Saheb, noted eye specialist, has been awarded the Rotary Pratibha Puraskaram at the Rotary International Conference held at NIMHANS in Bengaluru recently, according to a release by Dr Akbar on Wednesday.

In all, more than 2,000 delegates from Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and other states took part in the conference. The award has been given to Dr Akbar in recognition of his more than four decades old meritorious services in the areas of prevention of blindness and promotion of corneal donation. The meeting deliberated on blindness and polio prevention and eradication of illiteracy.

Rotary International Director Michael of Sweden and Rotary district president Prasad and others took part in the convention. Rotarians PDG Mansoor, PDG Sehanjaneyulu, Sudhir and Manohar represented Anantapur district at the conference.
