YSRC conducts Collectorate Muttadi across state for Special Category Status

Amaravati: YSR Congress Party held state-wide ‘Collectorate Muttadi’ (siege of collectorates) in all 13 districts demanding Special Category Status (SCS) to Andhra Pradesh. The ‘Collectorate Muttadi’ is part of the party campaign that there would not be any compromise on SCS.

The party leadership, coordinators and district units of frontal organisations led the ‘Muttadi’ of collectorates. YSRCP chief YS Jaganmohan Reddy monitored the party agitation from his padyatra camp site in Prakasam district.

The agitation was reported peaceful in all districts in the state, without causing troubles to the public. The YSRC alleged that the police tried to stop people from joining the agitation by using force in Visakhaptnam.

As part of the protest, party supporters and sympathisers wore plain black ribbons as arm bands to show their anger towards the TDP government and alleged that the state government was practising double standards in fighting for SCS and not serious in safeguarding the interests of the state.

In a release on Thursday, the party said all collectorates witnessed a massive turn out of people displaying banners, flags, placards and raising slogans that there will not be any compromise until the state received SCS YSRC leaders Kolusu Partha Sarathy led the Collectorate Muttadi in Vijayawada, Botsa Satyanarayana in Vizianagaram, Thammineni Sitaram in Srikakulam, M Vijaya Prasad and T Vijayakumar in Visakhapatnam collectorate. 

The party also said that around 200  YSRCP supporters from each district will leave for Delhi from Vijayawada on March 2 in a special train arranged by the party to participate in Parliament agitation on March 5.  

YSRCP leaders, MPs, MLAs will travel to the Padayatra location Darsi in Prakasam district on March 3, where the YSRCP chief Jagan will flag-off the contingent to lead the protest in Delhi. 

The party will march from Ektha Sthal at Parliament on March 5, the day Parliament restarts the budget session. The party said that Andhraites from all metro cities including Hyderabad will join the protest and natives in Delhi and students from IIT Delhi, JNU, DU who belongs to AP would also participate in the protest.

The party said that if SCS is not given to the State by April 5, the YSRCP MPs will resign on April 6. “Special Category Status is the state’s right.YSRCP will continue its relentless fight to ensure AP gets SCS status, which is crucial for ensuring jobs to 12 lakh unemployed youth, and for industrialization and sustained progress of the state,” the party said.
