Capital road works to end by December-end

Amaravati: Municipal administration and urban development minister P Narayana on Friday said that the capital city roads works would be completed by December-end. 

The minister said Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu was reviewing the progress of roads and other trunk infrastructure works frequently and giving directions to concerned departments.

Inspecting seed access road works in Venkatapalem and NH-4 road works in Dondapadu village along with officials of Amaravati Development Corporation, Narayana said the construction of 365-km long arterial and sub-arterial roads in the capital city area would be completed by December-end. 

Stating that the Chief Minister gave clear instructions that all roads in the capital city could be integrated and completed by the stipulated time, the minister said that he would inspect the road works every week as per the directions of the Chief Minister.  

Narayana said 34 arterial and sub-arterial road works have been taken up in Amaravati as per master plan and added the length of major arterial roads was 52 km and sub-arterial roads was 151 97.61 km.  A bus rapid transport system (BRTS) road would also be planned as part of sub-arterial roads, he added.

The minister further said it would take three years to complete the development of plots given to farmers under land pooling scheme in Amaravati. He also said 3,820 quarters were under construction for providing housing facility to MLAs, gazetted and non-gazetted employees.
