Chandrababu Naidu for quality paddy at low cost

Amaravati: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu asked the officials of International Rice Research Centre(IRRC), Philippines to submit a scientific report to produce quality paddy with low-production cost.

Interacting with International Rice Research Centre (IRRC) director general Dr Mathew Morell, Naidu said AP stands as rice bowl of India and the state achieved highest growth rate in agriculture and allied sectors. 

The International rice research centre team led by Mathew Morell, representative South Asia Nafees Meah, Outcome theme leader Arvind Kumar, Scientist Vikas Kumar Singh, Consultant Aldas Janaiah and senior associate Rubina Nishat led by Minister for Agriculture Somiredddy Chandramohan Reddy met Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Friday at his residence at Undavalli in Guntur.

On the occasion, Naidu said that he wished to develop AP as best agricultural hub and asked them to present a report to set up an innovation centre in AP to provide value addition to the produce of agriculture sector. IRRC director general Dr Mathew Morell said they were ready to set up a satellite-based international innovation centre in AP and added a sub-centre was already present in Varanasi.

Minister for Agriculture Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy explained to the Chief Minister necessary infrastructure to set up innovation centre. NG Ranga Agricultural University Vice-Chancellor Damodar Naidu, director of research N V Naidu and Commissioner of Agriculture Hari Jawaharlal were present.
