Update: 2018-03-03 07:28 IST

Chittoor: Lack of cooperation between the government and Apollo doctors at the district headquarters has led to the death of two women patients and a child. Both the doctors and the paramedical staff have been totally indifferent while attending the patients.

The relatives of the deceased staged a dharna in front of the Government General Hospital (GGH) with the bodies demanding, for initiating stringent action against erring and irresponsible doctors.

Taking a serious view, District Collector PS Pradyumna instructed Chittoor RDO Kodanda Rami Reddy to conduct an enquiry over the patients’ death and submit a report. Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh Vaidya Vidhana Parishad (APVVP) Joint Commissioner Dr PL Jayachandra Reddy has visited the district headquarters hospital, a couple of days ago.

After ascertaining the facts, he warned both Apollo and government doctors that stringent action would be initiated if such indifferent attitude between the both groups would witness further. It may be recalled here that Apollo Group of Hospitals had taken over the management of government hospital three years ago based on clinical attachment for 33 years. Speaking to The Hans India here on Friday, APVVP Joint Commissioner said that he was unhappy over the functioning of certain doctors belonging to Apollo and government hospital. “The government has made it very clear that the doctors of Apollo should follow the rules and regulations of the APVVP on par with government doctors.

They should follow bio-metric system and discharge their duties as per the prescribed guidelines,” he added. He felt that the functioning of government hospital at Madanapalle was more better than government hospital in Chittoor. If the doctors and para-medical staff of Apollo management fail to fulfil their stipulated terms and conditions, the state government would resort to take appropriate steps, he added.

It may be stated here that Apollo Group of Hospitals have established its medical college here two years ago due to the taking over the management of Chittoor Government Hospital. Meanwhile, sources revealed that district headquarters hospital is likely to be shifted to Madanapalle.
