‘Centre only provided 5 % of assured funds’

Hyderabad: Jana Sena Party (JSP) chief Pawan Kalyan cautioned the political parties not to resort to dramas by taking people for granted. Because, the simmering resentment within the people of the State might force them to take to streets. Addressing the media along with the members of the Joint Fact Finding Committee here on Saturday, he said the committee has come up with the issues focusing on what are to be immediately addressed and beneficial to the people.

He said that after the election of the BJP led NDA government at the Centre, the issue of Special Category Status (SCS) was not raised in the first 100 days of the government. One more year has lapsed as the government needed to settle down. However, even when there was growing restlessness among the people after three years there is no clarity on several issues.
Initially, the idea of the special package had been floated and the TDP had said that it was ready to take it. But, now they say they have not received anything after three years.

The State needed industries and other infrastructure and the National Institute of Importance (NII) for taking advantage of the demographic dividend. However, the Centre had given only 5 per cent of the total funds it had to provide. This way it will take 20 years for them to benefit the people, he added.  He said that both the State and the Central government are not doing enough.

Similarly, the JSP chief expressed his disappointment over the State government taking over the implementation of Polavaram Project. “It is a national project and the Centre will have to construct it,” he said. He wondered why the State government was burdening itself by taking up responsibility of project works.

Referring to the non-viability remarks of creating Special Railway Zone for Visakhapatnam, he asked whether the creation of Hazipur Railway Zone for the Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan was feasible. Whether division of United Andhra Pradesh was feasible, he questioned.
