Resolution passed for resolving drinking water crisis in summer
Anantapur: The Zilla Parishad (ZP) general body meeting presided over by chairman Poola Nagaraju had discussed among many things a contingency plan for overcoming water shortage for the forthcoming summer season. It also discussed members’ concerns at seasonal diseases striking the population and the preventive steps by the District Medical and Health department has initiated in this regard.
Several members also raised concerns at the irregularities which crept in the District Water Management Agency (DWMA) where there was misuse of NREGS funds in the form of entertaining false claims with regard to payment of wages etc. District Collector Veera Pandian responding to the members pleas has constituted a committee headed by Additional Joint Collector Subba Raju and inquire into the allegations and submit a comprehensive report. The general body meeting went on peacefully in the absence of several opposition ZPTC members at the meeting.
Puttaparthi MLA Palle Raghunath Reddy called upon the officials to be ready with relevant information relating to the district as several questions raised relating to the district in the Assembly will be coming up for a discussion in the next few days. Several members also urged the Collector to take stern action against medical officers and staff in the government hospitals and primary health centres in mandals for dereliction in their duties. They hailed the Collector for taking action on the erring medical officer in the city government hospital.
