Visakhapatnam: Computer Society of India, GITAM University student branch, in association with Department of Computer Science and Engineering, GITAM Institute of Technology hosted ‘Alibaba Cloud Most Valuable Professional (MVP) Tech Show’ here on Saturday.

Alibaba Cloud Solutions Architect Goutham Upadhyaya and Alibaba Cloud MVP Sai Sarath Chandra were resource persons. The event was presided by GITAM Institute of Technology Principal Prof K Lakshmi Prasad, Coordinated by Computer Science Engineering Department Head Prof K Thammi Reddy. Faculty Adviser Prof R Sireesh and others participated in the programme.

The workshop began as an interactive session with Goutham Upadhyaya laying out the foundation of cloud computing with examples of where a developer can leverage its benefits. He introduced several fundamentals to serve as a base to the workshop and involved students with his questions.

He further demonstrated how Alibaba Cloud could be used to deploy applications and publish them. He briefed that cloud computing targets the fact that a given server remains idle for most of the time and receives a high load during certain time period. This computing paradigm allows a developer to pay only for the resources if and when they use it, he added. He informed that for any alternative medium, high traffic on a web service or database increases the load over personal and commercial servers and requires to be scaled appropriately. Instead, cloud computing allows for highly versatile development.

International soft skills trainer Venugopal Lakshmpuram spoke about transition from campus to corporate. He discussed various ethical and professional factors important for gaining success in everyone’s life. Akansha Sudhir and Surya Ramadas of Alibaba Cloud team and faculty adviser of GITAM Prof R Sireesh were present.
