Bahujans resent isolation in fight for Special Category Status

Vijayawada: A round-table meet on Special Category Status (SCS) organised in a press club on Sunday expressed serious concern over neglect of Bahujans in the ongoing movement of political activists and intellectuals for achieving SCS. 

Isolation of Bahujans was a conspiracy and it should be tackled effectively with the united efforts of SCs, STs, BCs, Muslims and Kapus, the meet resolved. 

The round-table conference was organised under the aegis of Miriyala Venkata Rao Centre for Social Justice Study Centre. Speaking on the occasion, Bahujan Front national general secretary Melam Bhagya Rao called upon the Bahujan forces to intensify their fight against the Union government till it concedes to implement the promises made in AP Reorganisation Act-2014 in toto.

He said the BJP and the TDP governments were playing with lives of state people and added the BJP government had made it clear that SCS cannot be granted to AP.

He said that time has come for Bahujan leaders to fight against the BJP and TDP governments to do justice to the people of AP. He alleged both the ruling governments had made Bahujan people as vote-bank and were playing vote-bank politics. In the ensuing 2019 elections, the Bahujan Front will teach a fitting lesson to both the ruling parties, he said.

Presiding over the round-table meeting, Miriyala Venkata Rao Centre for Social Justice Study Centre state president Y Srinivasa Rao said that 90 per cent of funds would be given to state as grant once the state gets SCS. Due to subsidies and incentives, many companies would establish industries in the state, which resolves unemployment problem to a great extent, he added. 

Because of the implementation of AP Reorganisation Act-2014, many issues such as Visakhapatnam Railway Zone, Duggarajapatnam Port, Kadapa Steel Plant, airports, Metro Rail, capital construction and others would be addressed.

It was the Bahujan youth who were at loss because of non-implementation of the AP Reorganisation Act, he added. Representatives of various organisations P Rajesh, S Krishna Prasad and Kapu Nadu secretary K Ramesh were present.
