Demand for tender coconuts on the rise
Vizianagaram: With the rise in temperatures in the past few days, people are consuming water melon, muskmelon and drinking tender coconut water to beat the heat. People, who venture out on work, are preferring to consume more fruits to retain energy.
Now the price of tender coconut is raising abnormally as the demand for them is growing up with the onset of summer.
Right now, each tender coconut costs around Rs 25 but some of the street vendors are selling it at the rate of Rs 50 per litre.
To fill a litre bottle, vendors are cutting three big tender coconuts and selling for Rs 50. Families are purchasing the bottles to keep them in their fridges.
K Ramu, a vendor at ring road here, said that he is selling around 50 bottles per day and earning around Rs 800 to Rs 1000 per day. Even the commuters also preferring to buy the tender coconut rather than cold drinks. On the other hand, the sale of juices and butter milk also increasing.
