Rally taken out to mark National Security Day
Kakinada: The 47th National Security Day rally was taken out here on Sunday. Joint Collector Mallikarjuna flagged off the rally. Speaking on the occasion, Joint Collector said that industrial safety is the index of nation’s development. He further stated that East Godavari district is industrially developed and everybody should be aware of industrial safety and security.
He said that the hazards and calamities won’t alert us before they come and further suggested that all should carefully watch the mock drill by the NDRF (National Disaster Response Force) and use them in an emergency situation.
Speaking on the occasion, MLC Chikkala Ramachandra Rao said that managements of industries should protect its workers.
He cited the Bhopal gas tragedy which claimed thousands of lives in 1984. The MLC said that the victims and their families were still suffering from many diseases in Bhopal. Later, they took the oath to makr the Security Day.
The cadets of NDRF displayed mock drill on how to save lives of the people in emergency situations like fire, chemical and gas leaks. They also displayed the rescue methods in emergency situations in industries.
Industries Department Director Bala Kishore, Deputy Inspector of Factories Siva Kumar Reddy, Apollo CEO Dr Sandip, Godavari EHS Association President Gyana Sundaram and others participated. Prior to this, the Joint Collector launched an exhibition of the emergency utensils and apparatus that was useful in emergencies at the JNTU.
