AP Special Status issue rocks Parl
New Delhi: The issue of injustice and denial of Special Category Status to Andhra Pradesh rocked both Houses of Parliament with Telugu Desam members demanding immediate redressal forcing adjournment of the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha without transacting any business for the day.
As the Lok Sabha resumed for the second leg of the Budget Session on Monday, the TDP MPs trooped into the well demanding Special Category Status (SCS) for Andhra Pradesh. Closely following them, TRS members raised their voice demanding increase in reservations for the Muslims and STs.
Interestingly, the Congress MPs joined them but on different issue. They were demanding a discussion on the Rs 12,700-crore PNB scam. The AIADMK members trooped into the Well, too. Noisy protests disrupted the Question Hour which led to Speaker Sumitra Mahajan adjourning the House till 12 noon.
