Elections for Water Users Associations soon: Devineni Uma

Amaravati: Minister for Irrigation Devineni Uma Maheswara  Rao said that the government would conduct elections to the Water Users Associations in the state soon. 

Answering to a question in the AP Assembly here on Tuesday, the minister said that the government would complete ongoing irrigation works in various districts by June. The government had spent Rs 2,000 crore for Kadapa district alone. 

Now 12 tmc ft water is available in Pulivendula constituency alone, he said. He recalled that the Congress government led by the late YS Rajasekhara Reddy from 2004-2014 stalled the development works in Kuppam constituency. 

But now, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has given utmost priority for Pulivendula constituency, he said and added that the Opposition party was still making plans to stop development. The farmers of Pulivendula constituency are enjoying the benefits by getting good yield from various crops due to sufficient water released by the State government.

He also said that the government would complete Sangam project by June. Already Rs 100 crore was spent and another Rs 50 crore are to be spent, he said. The ayacut in Nellore district would be stabilised from this project, he said.
