Home guards daily wage to be hiked to 500
Amaravati: Floor leader of BJP in the State Assembly P Vishnukumar Raju on Tuesday demanded that the government pay salaries to home guards on par with Telangana and some other States in the country. He pointed out that the home guards were receiving meagre salaries during the Question Hour in the Assembly.
In his reply, Home Minister N Chinarajappa said that the government proposed to increase daily wages from Rs 400 to Rs 500 for home guards along with other benefits.
He also assured enhancement in pay by Rs 50 every year. Earlier, Vishnukumar Raju pointed out that 15,000 home guards were working in the State with low salaries. Nearly 60,000 people were depending on the salaries of home guards.
He lamented that though the home guards were working 12 hours a day, they were being paid low salaries. The staff of police department and various government departments were getting various benefits, he pointed out. The BJP floor leader asked the State government as to why it was showing discrimination against the home guards.
He pointed out that the Telangana government pays daily wages of Rs 675, Delhi Rs 633, Punjab 972, Himachal Pradesh Rs 571, Haryana Rs 572, Tamil Nadu Rs 560 and Kerala Rs 600.
