Will TDP win third Rajya Sabha seat too?
Upcoming Rajya Sabha biennial polls are raising lot of political heat in Andhra Pradesh. There are three seats and going by the numbers, it would be a smooth sailing for the TDP in two seats and YSRCP has enough numbers for winning the third seat. So far so good. But, the issue gets complicated when the TDP chooses to contest for the third seat.
The TDP has 102 MLAs in the house and has the support of two independents. It has managed to lure 23 YSRCP MLAs into its fold The BJP has four seats. Still the TDP needs one more vote and it should come from the YSRCP ranks. The TDP has claimed that at least two YSRCP MLAs are in touch with them and would vote for the party candidate.
The YSRCP has 44 MLAs and they are just about enough to get its candidate V Prabhakar Reddy elected to the Rajya Sabha. It is also claiming that some disgruntled TDP MLAs are in touch with them and might vote for them. Meanwhile, the estranged relations between the BJP and the TDP too have been causing concern for the ruling TDP.
In view of all these, there is lot of interest about what happens during the Rajya Sabha elections. The political watchers are keeping their fingers crossed.
