Annamayya portrayed bhaktirasa in sankeertans

Tirupati: The portrayal of Alwar bhaktirasa is one of the distinct features in the sankeertans penned by Saint-Poet Tallapaka Annamacharya, said retired Telugu professor of Sri Venkateswara University (SVU) Prof J Muniratnam.

The Telugu stalwart, delivered keynote address in the two-day seminar on “Alwar and Annamayya” organised by Alwar Divya Prabandha Project of TTD in Vikrama Simhapuri University (VSU) in Nellore which commenced on Tuesday.

In his lecture he said, Annamayya has given prominence to the ‘Saranagati Tatwa’ in his sankeertans taught by Alwars. He described Annamacharya as 13th Alwar as he continued the legacy of Alwars in Bhakti Tatwa through his sankeertans.

The professor also said, the seminars of this kind will be helpful to the students of Telugu in research. VSU Vice-Chancellor Prof Veeraiah, Registrar Prof Durgaprasad, and Alwar Project Special Officer Chokkalingam were also present.
