Diarrhoea claims another two lives
Guntur: Diarrhoea claimed another two lives in the city on Tuesday. BB John (68) died of diarrhoea at his residence at Anandpet and Fatimunnisa (55) died at the GGH while undergoing treatment here on Tuesday. Syyed Sabina (28) died at her residence in Anandpet after discharging from the Fever Hospital in the city on Monday.
Superintending engineer D Mariyanna said: “We have collected water samples and tested chlorine percentage under BR Stadium distribution point. We appointed teams for 10 wards. At seven points chlorine percent is less in the water. We have taken all the steps to check contamination of drinking water in the city”.
Meanwhile, District Collector Kona Sasidhar and Guntur Municipal Corporation Commissioner Challa Anuradha on Tuesday went to Anandapet and enquired about diarrohea cases. Kona Sasidhar interacted with locals and asked about their health condition. He inspected pipeline connection point and discussed with the GMC engineers.
Later, he went to the GGH and enquired about the diarrhoea cases and condition of the patients undergoing treatment in the GGH. He instructed the officials to arrange a special ward in the hospital and a control room in the GMC office which will work under the supervision of a doctor.
He said 51 patients admitted to the GGH, out of them 41 patients were discharged and added that 37 patients admitted to the fever hospital, out of them 11 patients were discharged.
