Political Heat intensifies in AP

Update: 2018-03-08 02:05 IST

Shocked over the statement of Union Finance Minister's reiteration that no Special Status Category would be given and that only Rs 1600 crore will be given to the State government, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu expressed his ire over the "insulting" attitude of the centre.

He said the centre did not even give any assurance that it would meet the demands of the state. He held teleconference with AP MPs in Delhi to work out next course of action. AP Mps told to stall the Parliament on Thursday and were told not to relent even if they get suspended from the Parliament.

This appears to be the last straw on the AP government's back. Naidu is holding emergency meeting with important ministers like Yanamala Ramakrishnudu, Nara Lokesh, Deputy Chief Minister Chinnarajappa and Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy.
