Nellore rural MLA fumes at Superintendent of Police

Update: 2018-03-08 10:10 IST

Nellore: Rural MLA and YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) leader Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy rebuked District Superintendent of Police (SP) PHD Ramakrishna for serving a notice to attend the police station even after clarifying his alleged suspicion on his involvement a year ago in sensational cricket betting case in the district.

Sridhar Reddy, interacting with the media, on Wednesday, said that the SP had served notices in last August and he had replied during an interaction.

After that there was no summons for any investigation till and the SP freshly served notices on Wednesday morning at 7.45 am. He ridiculed what necessity was there to serve notices when YSRCP MLAs are busy with filing nomination of their Rajya Sabha candidate Vemireddy Prabhakar Reddy in Amaravati.

“The cops are resorting to harassment during elections. The ruling party had failed to get illegal support from the YSRCP MLAs and now they are trying to disturb us mentally by serving the notices. Minister Narayana is behind the act and the SP had served notices obeying orders of local leaders,” the legislator alleged.

The legislator, at one point of time, lost his temper and targeted the SP making harsh comments against him. He said the SP is acting as an obedient party worker without ‘yellow shirt’ doing whatever the ruling party leaders say.

“You are an IPS officer and acting as a party representative tarnishing image of a prestigious position. What intention you have to serve notices to the opposition MLA after one year? Because of your pressure, one CI dead, an employee committed suicide and many others are facing severe stress,” criticised the legislator.

It may be recalled the district police arrested more than 200 persons in the district in connection with cricket betting case last year and two legislators from

Nellore city and rural constituencies were also asked to attend for investigation during last August. Now, freshly they served notices to the rural legislator, who expressed anger over the act.

He dared the SP to ask voluntarily for a judicial probe by the High Court of Hyderabad on irregularities. He also challenged that he would quit the MLA post and also leave from active politics if his allegations are proved correct. He also pointed out alleged corrupt activities of the OSD (Crimes) TP Vithaleswar with the support of the SP.
