Speed up smart city works

Tirupati: District Collector PS Pradyumna has directed the officials of the Municipal Corporation of Tirupati (MCT) and TTD management to speed up smart city works.

The Collector reviewed the ongoing smart city works in Tirupati with the officials concerned at Sub-Collector’s office here on Wednesday. In the meeting, Pradyumna has questioned officials as to why there is an inordinate delay in execution of smart city works.

The Collector instructed the MCT officials to procure the battery-operated vehicles for garbage collection within 30 days and to start laying water pipeline works at a cost of Rs 252 crore under Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (Amrut) scheme.

He instructed the MCT officials and AECOM- Deloitte company representatives to start smart city works in few streets on a pilot basis immediately. “Civic officials should speed up the development of Vinayaka Sagar and other parks within a stipulated time.

Similarly, instructions were given to the SPDCL and other related agencies to start laying the underground cable works for the upgradation of domestic power supply lines in temple city.

The Collector fixed a dead line to officials to start the Central Command Centre with the CCTV cameras linkage in Tirupati on or before March 15. He stated that civic body officials should enhance the greenery on either side of the streets and also instructed the officials to begin water supply for localities which are facing water shortage.

Pradyumna has exhorted officials to work with commitment for transforming the temple city as a religious capital. Joint Collector Girisha, MCT Commissioner Ch Hari Kiran and Sub-Collector Nishanth Kumar were present.
