APEPDCL bags award for 100% electrification

Visakhapatnam: Andhra Pradesh Eastern Power Distribution Company Limited (APEPDCL) has been awarded under the category of ‘Best Rural Electrification Projects by Utility’ for achieving the task of cent per cent electrification by the India Smart Grid Forum (ISGF), New Delhi.  

The APEPDCL has been selected for this award for its contributions in effective implementation of Central and State government schemes and for achieving 100 per cent electrification of households.  To achieve the task, the APEPDCL has taken effective steps since more than a decade through successful implementation of X and XI Plan projects of both the governments.

APEPDCL Chief General Manager V Vijayalalitha received the award from Additional Secretary, Energy Department, B N Sharma at a function in New Delhi.

The discom has identified un-electrified households by nominating field staff as village-level nodal officers and developed a web application for online updation of survey details along with Aadhaar or ration card.

Besides, the discom registered applications at customers door steps and provided facility for online registration. To achieve the cent per cent electrification of households, the company is conducting reviews, weekly, fortnightly, monthly, video and tele-conferences by the top management and monitoring the works on daily basis through the social media.

Under X and XI plans, 1,355 un-electrified habitations were electrified, and 7,36,363 services were released. Under Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyothi Yojana Scheme and rural electrification component for electrification of all households programme, 478 services were provided.

With a commitment to electrify every nook and corner, APEPDCL implemented decentralised distribution generation (DDG) and standalone system (SAS) projects successfully. 

Under the scheme 366 interior tribal habitations with 6,945 households in Srikakulam, Visakhapatnam and Godavari districts were also electrified by providing solar plants.

APEPDCL Chairman and Managing Director H Y Dora congratulated the staff and officials on the achievement and said that it is the recognition of the hard work and collective efforts towards their devoted duties for the consumers of five districts.
